Catherine Amanda Mischbaugh (1900-1979)
Catherine Amanda Mischbaugh was the daughter of Oswald Mischbaugh and Amanda Mischbaugh. Both of her parents had immigrated from Germany. She was born in August 1867 in Pennsylvania. She was married to Oswald Mischbaugh her cousin in 1889. See the paragraph below describing their elopement from the Pittsburg Dispatch dated 21 November 1889.
The 1890 U. S. Census data was destroyed.
On the 1900 U.S. Federal Census she was listed as Amanda Missbach. She was living with her family in Ben Avon Borough, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
We are not sure what happened between 1910 and 1920 but it appears that Oswald is no longer listed. We are not sure if he passed away or not and have not been able to locate a death certificate. Amanda appears in the 1920 U. S. Census located in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona with her son and daughter William and Katherine. It appears that she married James L. Dillon. She was a hotel keeper.
We cannot find any records on Amanda or James after the 1920 census. We did find records of her sister, Jennie Mischbaugh in Arizona in 1930 and her children William and Katherine were still living in Arizona in 1930. Her daughter Helen had moved to California.
Children of Oswald and Amanda were:
- Helen M. Mischbaugh - (1891 – 1969)
- William R. Mischbaugh - (1896 – 1971)
- John C. Mischbaugh - (1900-)
- Katherine A. Mischbaugh - (1900 – 1979)
