Joseph L. Dillon is the son of Joseph Dillon (born in Ireland or Harrisburg, Illinois) and his mother (Name Unknown was born in Ireland.  He was born on 29 June 1863 in Harrisburg, Illinois.  See the passport paragraph below for possible corrections to this information.  It could also be that Joseph is not his correct name and his name is really James.  We can find records of Joseph L. Dillon but have been unable to find records of a James.

Joseph married Amanda Mischbaugh on 6 January 1917 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona from a reference we found in the  Arizona, Marriages, 1888-1908.

In November 1919, the XXX has an article of Catherine Mischbaugh et al locating the Kitty Claim in Black Canyon District.

Joseph appears with  Amanda Mischbaugh on the 1920 U. S. Census located in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona with her son and daughter, William and Katherine.  The 1920 U.S. Census lists Joseph as James. Joseph is listed as a prospector in the mining business. Amanda is listed as a hotel keeper.

The Joseph L. Dillon listed on this passport application may not be the same Joseph that married Amanda.  The passport says his father was born in Harrisburg, Illinois but the 1920 U.S. Census information says his parents were both born in Ireland. If this is not his passport then the date and place of birth we have listed for him could be incorrect.  What is probably correct is that he was born in Illinois around 1863.  Perhaps he changed his fathers place of birth on the passport so that his application was approved.  His passport says that he lived in Dawson, N.W.T., Canada from 1897 to 1898.  His permanent residence at the time of his application was Phoenix, Arizona where he was a miner.  He was applying to go to England for one year to pursue the mining business and he was going to depart from New York on or about 5 January 1921.  The application was dated 6 December 1921. We cannot find any records on Amanda or James after the 1920 census.
