Christena Michalk

Christena Michalk was the daughter of Unknown and Unknown. We found Christena's maiden name on the Jennie Misbaugh's death certificate.  She was born around 1822 and 1826 in Germany.  She was married to August Mischbaugh. Her nicknames appeared to be Mena and Minnie.  We are not sure when Christena and August moved to the United States.  We do have a copy of August Misbaugh's naturalization papers.  In order to apply to become a United States citizen, August had to have resided in the United States for five years.  If Christena came to the United States with August, they arrived sometime before 1850.

On the 1870 U. S. Census, Christena was listed as Misbaugh.  She was approximately 44 years old. She worked in the home and was living with her family in Killbuck Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

On the 1880 U. S. Census, Christena was listed under the name of Mena Mischbauch in Kilbuck Township. She was approximately 56 years old and was shown as being older than her husband.  It could be her and her husband's ages were switched because the 1870 census shows her being younger than August.

The 1890 U. S. Census data was destroyed.

On the 1900 U. S. Census, August was listed under the name of Meissbah.  He was approximately 71 years old.  He was living by himself as a widow.  It appears that Christena had passed away sometime between the 1880 and 1990 Census.
