The record
here will have to depend completely on researchers work, with no
names given in the 1840 census, it would be impossible to determine
the children of William ... and even the names given by
researchers are questionable, noting that only one daughter is
enumerated in 1840, and she is not accounted for among those given
by researchers. I do not know if a record exists for the estate
of William and Sarah, which might give names of their children,
but am told the Elijah Bishop Bible might help, at least with the
daughter, Louisa, but I have been unable to locate a copy of that
record either.

A male son under 5, that may be the
William, shown as age 13, in the
household of Prior
Talley in 1850,
along with Hanson Berry, age 20. The male, shown here as
age 20-30 is
not
likely to be Hanson, he is just 20 in 1850... so the
question of where he is at is also
unanswered.
Female
under 5, would not be Louisa, Elizabeth or Ann Jane, as
their ages would have
been 20,
16, and 14, if their birthdates are correctly given by
researchers; so it appears
we have
another female born to this family, and three missing
daughters. It would not be
unusual
for these daughters to have been married at these ages, or
they may have been
enumerated
in another household, either way, we may never know without
actual names
being
recorded in the 1840 census records.
One record shows
that William married only 20 days before his death date,
which I will
assume
to be incorrect, as the census record shows children
living in the home,

Hines
Bishop is age 16, in 1850 living the home of 54 yr old Martha
Bishop, with whom I have been unable to determine a relationship.
She may be a sister in law, or an aunt, but is probably not his
mother, if indeed Lucretia Taylor Bishop is his mother as stated by
Denise Stiles.

(5) Ann
Jane (or June) b 1836.
I think
there may have been a son, William, who is shown as age 13, in the
household of Prior Talley Berry, along with Hanson in the 1850
census.
Hanson and Susannah's dates of births are recorded in the Wilkes -
Berry Bible, on the top edge of the page, apart from their own
children's births. It does not state that these are children of
William, that information comes from researchers, and I know of no
way to prove their parentage. If these are indeed children of
William, then I would assume that William and Richard had a close
relationship, and thus it makes me wonder if the
Harrison Berry, aged 18, found in Richard
Talley Berry's home in 1850, may
also be a son of William Berry. One researcher tells us that Hanson
and Susan were raised by Richard Talley Berry, but I think that may
be based on the fact that their births are shown in his Bible
record.
I was
unable to locate Hanson in the
1870 census, but found a William who may be
the same,
the ages match, and he lives very near to Prior Tally Berry
Elisha was my gggrandfather. His wife was Louisa Berry. Denson
Denro Bishop was one of his sons (my ggrandfather) and his daughter,
Mattie was my maternal grandmother.
Elisha and Louisa are
buried in the Elliot Cemetery, Elliot, Robertson Co., Tx. We have
visited the cemetery several times and it's full of Bishops. My
grandmother, Mattie married a Crouch and they are buried at Bryan,
but there are a lot of Crouch's & Bishop's at Mt. Vernon and in the
Franklin Cemetery.

Denise:
I am
working on the Berry family, and have many questions about William
and Sarah Berry, supposed parents of Louisa Berry. I found your
gedcom on Ancestry.com for the family of Louisa and Elisha Bishop,
and I wonder if you might help with other members of Louisa's
family. I understand a Bible record exists for Elisha Bishop, but
have been unable to locate a copy. Might you have one? Also, do
you have any records for Susannah, supposed sister of Louisa, who
married Hines/Hinds Bishop, supposed brother of Elisha?
Another member of your family: Lynn Pridgen, has written telling me
he/she is also a member of this same lineage, but I have yet to hear
back from them with any further information.
I'd love to hear from
either of you with any kind of documentation for any of the families
mentioned.
What I have found thus
far is:
The
children given to me as those of William and Sarah are:
(1.) Louise, born 2 DEC 1830 in Mississippi Death: 12 AUG 1884 in
Elliott, Franklin Co Texas buried in the Elliot Cemetery, Elliot,
Robertson Co., Tx.
Marriage 1 Elisha J.
BISHOP b: 30 AUG 1830 in Marion, Miss Death: 2 APR 1881 in Elliott,
Franklin County; Texas married before 1850
(2)
Hanson b July 18, 1831
(3)
Susannah b December 06, 1832 (Abner W. Berry Bible)
m Hines Bishop,
living with Elisha and Louisa in 1850
Hines Bishop is age 16, in 1850 living the home of 54 yr old Martha
Bishop, whom I would assume to be his mother.
(4)
Elizabeth b 1834
(5)
Ann Jane (or June) b 1836.
Hanson, and Susie (Susannah) Berry, whom I am told to be children of
Willam and Sarah, births are recorded at the top of the "deaths"
page of the Richard Talley/Abner Wilkes Berry Bible.
Hanson is recorded in the 1850 census of Scott Co Mississippi with
Prior Talley Berry, shown to be aged 18, along with a William Berry,
age 13, who may or may not be his brother. A Harrison Berry is
enumerated in the household of Richard Talley Berry, age 18, who I
am unable to determine a relationship for...could also be a son of
William and Sarah.
The
1840 census of Simpson Co, I find a Wm Berry, living next to John
and Henry Berry, shows:
1 male under 5, 1 male
20-30, 1 male 30-40 1 female under 5, and 1 female 30-40.
Assuming the eldest
male and female to be Wm and Sarah, that leaves lots of questions>>>
A
male son under 5, that may be the William, shown as age 13, in the
household of Prior
Talley in 1850, along
with Hanson Berry, age 20. The male, shown here as age 20-30 is
most likely Hanson.
Female under 5, would not be Louisa, Elizabeth or Ann Jane, as
their ages would have
been 20, 16, and 14,
if their birthdates are correctly given by researchers, so it
appears
we have another female
born to this family, and three missing daughters. It would not be
unusual for these
daughters to have been married at these ages, or they may have been
enumerated in another
household; either way, we may never know without actual names
being recorded in the
1840 census records.
Can
any of you help in the lineage of William Berry, and do either of
you know of a source for his spouse name...or any proof of children
of William Berry...
Thank you for any help you might give.

I am seeking information about Hines

in MS and she died about 1870 in Robertson county,TX. He remarried
to Annie Bailey in Robertson county in 1871 and lived in Robertson,
Milam, and Brazos counties in Texas. I would like to find
